Ok, so I may have been a bit premature when I titled a recent post "Marmar is back in business". It has not been an easy few days for Marmar. Yesterday (Wednesday) morning at 10:45 am I received a call on my cell phone (while I was working with one of my students) from the hospital that my mom had been in the ER since 8 am because she had been complaining of chest pains. (Note: Mom was moved to the skilled nursing/ rehab floor on Sunday and so this kind of thing is considered as a new admission kinda thing) The nurse from the skilled nursing unit (rehab) said that Marmar complained of chest pains at 5 am and their policy is to send that kind of issue to the ER to be worked up. And she added "Your sister Jenny called to check on your mom a while ago and we told her your mom was in physical therapy, but we were wrong...she is in the ER." Whaaat??? You are just calling us now??? So I finished up early with my sweet speech friend and I put in some quick calls to the sisters who had the same reaction. Sue was at work, but offered to leave and I had an eval at work and so Jenny said she would head out to the hospital ASAP. Bottom line: Marmar has a blood clot in her pulmonary artery, a fairly recent development according to the cardiologist, and they are treating it with meds for now. Marmar is back on a regular floor and has not been out of bed and though is still in considerable pain, is more comfortable than she has been for the past couple of days.
Makes me tired just to think of all that she has been through in the last 9 days. Praying that she turns the corner soon and starts feeling like herself again.
