Jack and I laughed more yesterday than we have in a long time. It started with Christy telling us about a book she read on her kindle called S*#t My Dad Says. There is also a blog and Twitter page. A 29 year old guy who moved back home for a while and is living with his 74 year old dad just started writing down things that his dad said. Most of the sayings are supposed to be encouraging, but they often don't come out quite right. The language is bad and may offend some, but it really is so funny. You can google it and it will give you a website to click on, in case you are interested.
In the evening, Jack and I went to 5 o'clock mass, then went into the city for dinner and to see Jackie Mason. Dinner was a quick one at Corner Bakery and then we walked over to the show. Jackie Mason was very entertaining. Not at all politically correct, but so funny. Jack pulled up a clip on YouTube of Jackie Mason on the Hollywood Palace variety show back in 1967 or so. It was amazing that his act back then was very similar to the one we saw Saturday night, poking fun at politicians (mostly presidents). Not everyone appreciated the jokes about President Obama. The guy next to me was very offended when Mason made fun of Obama, but laughed when he joked about Bush or Palin. Interesting. Lighten up, man. I am sure Obama would have laughed at Mason's jokes himself.
All in all, a great night and for sure we were out of our rut.
