Last Saturday was a super fun family day at Susie's Farmers Market. We made it a sisters kind of day. Jenny and I met at Arne and Beth's at 7:45 am to pick up Abbie and Nina, then hopped on the expressway and met Susie, Karen and Bella (Sue's Newfie) at the Farmers Market. It was a beautiful morning and the girls were so excited to be there and it was just pure plain good old fashioned fun. There was face-painting, beanie babies with sleeping bags to buy, cute little purses, t-shirts, and sno-cones. Sue and Karen go with Bella every Saturday and have made many friends there over the years. There are also lots of dog people and lots of camaraderie and visiting. Afterwards, Sue and Karen took Bella home and then picked up Marilyn and met Jen, Abbie, Nina and me for breakfast. Marilyn is a neighbor of Sue's and a retired teacher who has a dog walking service. She has been walking Sue's dogs at midday for years. Marilyn was especially good company to my mom in her later years, stopping to visit with her and break up those long afternoons when my mom was no longer able to get out of the house. I will never forget how good she was to my mom. It was so good to see Marilyn again!
Jenny had to work in the afternoon, so we dropped off "Grammy" at her car then the girls came back to our house to hang out for a while. Jack and I enjoy having them here. They are a pleasure to have around and take delight in the simplest things. They painted with watercolors, took a long bath and played "wedding" in the tub :) and made books on the iPad. Arne and Beth came to pick them up and we got to visit with them and rehash the wedding some more (can't get enough of that!).
Later that evening, Jack and I had dinner with Mary and Bob at the newlyweds' house. Matt and Sally had just returned from their honeymoon the night before. They had an amazing trip and we got to see their honeymoon pictures on Apple TV. It is the modern day slide show. Nice to hear all about their trip and it was also nice to have them home.
