Never forgetting

As wedding plans were unfolding over the past year, it became increasingly important to Sally to somehow pay tribute and remember those family members who would have been an important part of the wedding day if they were still alive. My faithful readers know who I am talking about :). Over the course of the wedding planning, we began calling them "our dead people". While that might sound disrespectful  to some, there is no doubt that my dad, my mom, Tommy, Dane and Mike would have gotten a kick out of that title! All were famous for their sense of humor. A friend of mine, Jill, was super helpful. She has an embroidery business (click on embroidery business to go there!),in addition to being a mother of four and an attorney who has recently returned to her career, and has all sorts of creative ideas. During some brain-storming emails, we came up with idea of making, as a surprise for Sally, a patch to sew in Sally's wedding dress that said "Always in my heart... Pawp, Marmar, Tommy, Dane and Mike". That way Sally could carry them with her down the aisle and all throughout her wedding day. Jack and I presented her with the patch on the morning of the shower that Christy and Cathy threw for her. Originally I was going to give it to her at the shower, but Jack was concerned that it might be too emotional for her. He was right. Here is a video of Sally receiving this gift:
Sally and Matt also paid tribute to our dead people, as well as Matt's grandparents and Uncle Tommy (how ironic is that?) in the wedding program and in a lovely display at the reception.

the patch...how lovely
